Twenty five years in this man's navy and what do I have to show for it? Not even a Sol Permit, but plenty of stories and a few scars to help with the recall. "This isn't a job," they told me when I joined Federation Naval Intelligence, "It's a way of life." They weren't kidding. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Now I'm a nomad. A few data running or courier jobs to pay for java, whisky and repairs, but mostly I'm an explorer. I drink my java a little too strong and my whisky a little too often but, hey, who's counting.
